An area representative could further crowd the race for US Senator Pete Domenici's seat.
A spokeswoman for Representative Tom Udall says some New Mexicans are urging the democrat to reconsider running.
Udall previously said he had no plans to enter the race, and felt he could better serve the people of New Mexico in his current position.
But if Udall changes his mind, that would put all three New Mexico members of the US House into the running for that senate seat.
Representative Heather Wilson of Albuquerque and Steve Pearce of Hobbs both want the Republican nomination.
Pearce will announce his candidacy Friday, and plans a campaign stop in Clovis on his initial campaign tour.
