Illegally using his position at the Sheriff's Department for personal gain.

Today, a Potter County Grand Jury said they had enough evidence to indict current Potter County Sheriff Mike Shumate on those charges.

Shumate is facing three felony counts of accepted bribes, which included cash and computers, from the county jail's food service and commissary vendor, Mid-America Services.

The president of that company, Robert Austin Junior was also indicted on charges that claim he and his company paid bribes to Shumate in order to obtain and retain contracts with Potter County.

Former Potter County Chief Deputy Ken Farren is also facing allegations that he used county employees and inmate labor to benefit his home.

NewsChannel 10 did speak with Sheriff Mike Shumate this evening, but says he could not comment on today's events.
