West Texas A&M is gearing up for Homecoming Week, and it all got started Tuesday with a Pep Rally in Amarillo.
Dr. J Patrick O'Brien, Mayor McCart, and Head football coach Don Carthel were just a few at the celebration furthuring the bond between the university and its neighbor down the road.
Rally goers were treated to the WT marching band and cheerleaders, as well as some food and drinks.
Dr. O'Brien thinks the tie to Amarillo is an important one.
"This is not a Canyon University. This is the West Texas University. We represent the Panhandle, and Amarillo is a big part of the Panhandle."
And Mayor McCartt doesn't disagree.
"It is the West Texas University, and we want to support them in any way that we can. This is so exciting. GO BUFFS"
