There is now a new email alert system put in place by the Amarillo Police Department.

The system will send out notices to those on the list with information on missing people and crime.

"People love to be involved in police business whenever we ask for help we get the help so we know that people want to be involved and this gives us a way to connect citizens and for them to help us," said Sargeant Randy Tenbrink, of the Amarillo Police Department.

Sgt. Tenbrink says 700 people have signed up for the program so far.  If you want to sign up all you need is an email address.  Log onto amarillopolice.org/alertsystem.htm
