Federal dollars are coming to Amarillo to help restore an Historic Route 66 landmark. The Triangle Motel was chosen to receive a grant from the National Park Service for $26,000.
It will go towards repairing the roof and the windows, and completing an historic structure report.
The Triangle Motel's owners say they can't wait to start fixing up the place.
"This was once a treasured icon on Route 66, and Alan (son) has the dream that it will be again. It's wonderful to have the national parks service behind us showing us that they believe in the potential of the Triangle Motel too," said Marianne Logan, the motel's owner.
The motel was built in 1945, and was the only building in Texas to receive this federal grant.
