Diabetes a big topic of Hispanic Women's Health Conference

Diseases like diabetes were the focus of the 3rd Annual Hispanic Women's Health Conference Saturday in Amarillo.

Hundreds of women were educated about their health during the event, held at the Civic Center.

Women studied up on topics like heart health, physical fitness, and sexuality. One of the biggest issues presented was proper diet.

"The most important thing I've learned is the diet," said Lupe Corchanda, conference participant.

"You've got to eat a good meal, a balanced meal to have energy to take care of your family, do your 9 to 5 job, of if you're going to school," said Corchanda.

Many of the women received free mammograms  and other health services at the event.

Along with tips on how to communicate the need for care to their doctors.
