Library Tutoring

Amarillo children and teens no longer have to struggle to find help with their homework. All the help they need could be as close as a library card and the click of a mouse.

The Amarillo Public Library joined up with an online tutoring program that allows students to get the help they need.

Live Homework Help is a tutoring service from tutor.com.

I spoke with Donna Makkhavane to get more details.

"The service is available for students fourth through twelfth grades and also provides some introduction to some college classes."

Students have access to help from expert tutors in all of the main subjects.

You can get help in almost everything from geometry to political science and chemistry to grammar.

"It is a vigorous process. The teachers do have to be certified and they do go through quite an extensive training."

The online program was started in August of 2006 and served over 1500 Amarillo students last school year.

Students can access the program from home or the library and will work with any Amarillo library card.

Its a nation wide program that Amarillo students can access at www.amarillolibrary.org

Then you simply click on the Live Homework Help icon, enter the grade level and subject and a tutor will be right there to help.

Live Homework Help is a free program and over ninety percent of students who have used it said they've had better grades and would recommend it to other people.
