Local 9/11 Tributes

Today marks the sixth anniversary of the 9/11 attacks and there were several tributes to the victims across the city.

The local Marine honor guard was on hand to play "taps" in a tribute to the fallen nine-eleven victims at Amarillo College. Dozens of students and faculty also observed a moment of silence at 9:11 this morning.

Flags bearing the name of each of the nearly three-thousand victims were placed all across the Washington Street campus.

Nearly three-thousand flags were placed in the lawn of a local firehouse in remembrance of the victims of 9/11. A lieutenant with the Amarillo Fire Department says it is important to remember their fallen brothers and all of the victims.

He said other local firefighters helped them place the flags and that neighbors have stopped to take pictures of the memorial.

You can see the memorial at Station Five on Washington and 34th.
