Credit Card Theft Forces Local Restaurant to Switch Computer System

Computer hackers are believed to be the ones responsible for several stolen credit card numbers.

Within the last few months, several people have come forward saying their credit card numbers were stolen.

All those people had recently eaten at Zookini's restaurant in Amarillo.  One victim we spoke with says she felt helpless when someone else was spending her money.

"It's a huge invasion of privacy. It just makes you feel very vulnerable, very open."

When this was brought to Zookini's attention, they immediately got in touch with local police.

"The investigation showed that we do not believe a Zookini's employee or anyone inside Zookinis had anything to do with using that information," says Sgt. Randy Tenbrink with the Amarillo Police Department.

Since then, Zookini's says it has upgraded its computer system with new software and firewalls to keep this from happening again.
