Update: NM Medical Airplane Crash

ALBUQUERQUE (AP) _ A medical airplane's two engines were running when it crashed two minutes after taking off from an airport near Ruidoso, killing all five people aboard.

That according to a preliminary report issued (this week) by the National Transportation Safety Board.

The NTSB says the propellers were turning when the airplane crashed the night of August 5th while maneuvering about four miles southeast of the Sierra Blanca Regional Airport.

The Beechcraft King Air E-90B plowed into trees on a hillside and burned. The wreckage, strewn over 1,100 feet, was found the next morning.

The NTSB says scattered clouds dotted the sky when the Southwest Medevac air ambulance took off toward the east.

A witness then saw the airplane make a left turn toward its Albuquerque destination and disappear.
