2007-2008 SCHOOL YEAR

REGISTRATION

HIGH SCHOOL- High school students who pre-registered during the spring of 2007 should report to their school according to the following schedule to receive class schedules and finalize registration. Unless otherwise specified, high school students who cannot come to registration at the assigned time or who did not attend school in Amarillo last year should call the school they will attend and make an appointment. Proof of residence (current utility bill, lease or rental agreement) is required of each student, new and returning.

Amarillo Area Center for Advanced Learning (AACAL) - 326-2800

Students who have already applied for enrollment at the Amarillo Area Center for Advanced Learning and been accepted for the 2007-08 school year will have their AACAL courses listed on the regular schedule they receive from their home campus.

Classes at AACAL will begin August 27. Bus transportation is available to AACAL from each AISD high school for all students.

THERE WILL BE AN ORIENTATION ON AUGUST 2 AT 6:30 PM FOR STUDENTS WHO DID NOT ATTEND THE NEW STUDENT ORIENTATION IN THE SPRING. Call 326-2800 for information.

 

MIDDLE SCHOOL - Middle school students should register at their school according to the following schedule. Parents should accompany their child to registration. Middle school students who cannot come to registration at the assigned time should call the school they will attend and make an appointment. Proof of residence(current utility bill, lease or rental agreement) is required of each student, new and returning. NOTE: A driver's license is not valid proof of residence.

ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Elementary schools in Amarillo ISD will conduct registration on Wednesday, August 8 and Thursday, August 9, generally from 8:00 am-4:00 pm. For more information on specific times, please call the school your child will attend.

Needed Documents: Parents of kindergarten and first grade students should bring a copy of their child's birth certificate, immunization records and social security number, if available, to registration.

Age Requirements: Kindergarten students must be five years old on or before Sept. 1, 2007. First grade students must be six years old on or before Sept. 1, 2007.

SCHOOL SUPPLY LISTS and other information can be obtained at registration.

CLASS TIMES: Please check with the school your child will attend.

NOTE: If the campus where the child should attend does not offer pre-kindergarten, parents should contact the principal regarding a request for transfer to one of the campuses that does service that area.

Needed Documents- The following documents must be presented at the time of enrollment for pre-kindergarten:

Proof of income-required even if the family is receiving assistance; Birth certificate; Immunization records; Social Security card (if available)

Age Requirements: Children entering the four-year-old pre-kindergarten program must be four years of age on or before Sept. 1, 2007. A birth certificate or other suitable document will be used as proof of age.

No students should be enrolled in pre-kindergarten if the child/family does not meet the eligibility guidelines.
