Clovis Woman Gets Parenting Classes

A 16-week parenting course, that's the sentence set for a Clovis woman whose daughter had 44 un-excused absences from Clovis High School last year.

The court showed April Castillo's daughter's actions are considered "Habitual Truancy" under New Mexico law, which means she had more than 10 un-excused absences from school.

Castillo was ordered to ensure her child attends school this year. She will also have to pay 55 dollars in court fees.
