BMW Ultimate Drive, Supporting Susan G. Komen For The Cure

The Ultimate Drive for the Susan G. Komen for the Cure raised over $6,000 in Amarillo Friday. The money helps people with breast cancer. This is the 11th year the fund-raiser has come to Amarillo.  The special cars will stop at over 200 BMW centers nationwide raising millions of dollars. For every mile driven, BMW donates one dollar to the foundation.

Most of the money raised Friday will stay in the area for breast cancer treatment and education. The Harrington Cancer Center in Amarillo is one of the places which receives that money. This spring they received a $120,000 grant which pays for special vans that have mammogram equipment inside. They travel all over the area helping women who can't afford to go to a hospital. Those involved says it's important women over 40 have a routine mammogram because the earlier you catch cancer the easier it is to treat.
