Woman Convicted for Making False Claims

A Canyon woman could face up to 5 years in prison for making false allegations that a DPS trooper made sexually suggestive remarks toward her.

A federal jury convicted 31 year old Kristina Marie Sheppard on one count of making false statements.

Sheppard was pulled over near Plainview in February and a DPS trooper arrested her for driving while intoxicated. She claims the trooper took her to a remote location and she says she was afraid he was going to sexually assault her.

Evidence showed the trooper drove straight from the site of the arrest to the jail.

Sheppard will be sentenced in October.
