Full-Scale Disaster Drill

A plane crashed, people died, but it's all part of a drill at the Rick Husband Amarillo International Airport.

Officials call Thursdays drill a success and say they are ready if a real disaster at the airport occurs. Local emergency crews including police, the fire department , airport officials, and the American Red Cross respond immediately.

Officials say they do plan to tweak a few procedures including getting emergency information out to the media faster so we can update you sooner.

The Area chapter of the Red Cross is looking for more volunteers. If you would like to help in case there is a real emergency call  (806) 376-6309.
