Heavy Rain Causes Flooding In Amarillo

There were plenty of soggy scenes on the south side of the city. Drivers had to brave through intersections. Several cars stalled out and had to be towed. Officers had to rescue three people from a flooded car.

We spoke with one man who recently moved to Amarillo and couldn't believe how quickly the rain created floods. "It flooded quickly, in less than 30 minutes the streets were flooded and cars were stalling out over there, I was surprised by that," said Marcus Washington.

A few of the worst we spotted were at Sterling and Everest just off 46th and Washington, 34th and Janet and Georgia and Mockingbird, as well as Coulter and Hollywood.

APD closed some roads because heavy rains made them nearly impassable although most roads are back open at this time.
