Millions will help keep NM tuberculosis free

37-million dollars is now available to help New Mexico address the cattle tuberculosis outbreak in Curry County.

The federal money will allow the U.S. Department of Agriculture to destroy the infected dairy herds and do other activities to contain the situation.

About 170 cows tested positive for TB back in June. The USDA has given the state 60 days to prove the outbreak is isolated and will not spread or the state could lose its tuberculosis free status.
