TX School Board Delays Change To English Curriculum

The Texas State Board of Education recently decided to postpone their adoption of new reading and writing curriculum standards for public school students.

They decided to do this after education groups urged the board to allow more time for teachers to provide input on how to best teach English Language Arts. Officials will now vote on a new curriculum in February rather than taking action this fall.

The new curriculum is expected to be ready for the 2009-2010 school year. The last time the state revamped this curriculum was ten years ago.
