Camp Cactus

Camp Cactus is a camp that takes place twice a year for kids affected by AIDS. The kids do not have to have AIDS or HIV, they can be affected in any way.

The camp was created in 1994, in honor of a local physicians wife who contracted the virus from a blood transfusion, and then spent her remaining days educating about the illness.

The kids stay at the camp and are treated to a weekend full of events. This year's theme is Western and many of the events followed.  The kids were taken to Wonderland and Splash Amarillo, and were treated to many activities at the camp itself.

Newschannel 10 visited the camp and talked to some camp staff and kids about what kind of impact this camp has on the kids.
