There is a worldwide shortage of wheat, but some Curry County wheat farmers are having an amazing harvest this year due to all the rain.

NewsChannel 10 spoke with Hoyt Pattison, a wheat farmer who says this year many in the area are averaging 25-50 bushels of wheat an acre.  Last year they had about six bushels an acre due to the drought.

Pattison will also be able to sell his wheat for more money because there is a high demand for it.  He says that last year wheat sold around $4.00 a bushel and this year they are getting around $5.50 a bushel.

Strong wheat crops also help the area's economy.  Pattison says agriculture has been one of Clovis' main backbones since the city started a hundred years ago.
