Body Found In Amarillo Motel

Police are looking for answers tonight after discovering a decomposing body at a south Amarillo motel.

The Special Crimes Unit investigating the case has released few details, but NewsChannel 10 has learned information from the motel manager. We checked motel registration records to find out more about the man staying in the room where police found the body.

Police have still not confirmed the identity of the body they carried out of the American Motor Inn this afternoon. But motel check-in records show a man named Ed Boswell had been staying there since March 24th.

Officers were dispatched to the motel just before one o'clock. "They were a little suspicious of what they found. The man's been in there some time, probably several days," says Lieutenant Gary Trupe.  The motel manager would not speak on camera but tells us he unlocked room 201 this morning because Boswell was late on his weekly payments. And that's when he found the body.

Officers say so far there's no sign of foul play, but the Special Crimes Unit is still investigating. "He's got some decompositional changes and they called us to come out and take a look at it," adds Trupe. Officers are now waiting on an autopsy to learn the cause of death.

Construction is underway on Canyon's new aquatic park, which is still on schedule to open to the public on June 1st. The aquatic park is just a bunch of holes in the ground right now. But when the slides go up (by April 10th), people will start to see how close the project is to completion.
