Some local baseball players are rooting for a comeback after the defeat of immigration reform on Capitol Hill today.

Amarillo Dillas from other countries who have permission to be in the U.S. want things get better for other immigrants who don't.   They're far from politicians, but they do have an opinion about the estimated 12 million undocumented people in this country.  "They should be supported," says pitcher Jorge Lugo, "some have been here many years and they're not Americans, they're illegal.

The team's manager recognizes the hiring of foreign players is a kind of guest worker program.   Although some opponents of the now defunct immigration bill decry a guest worker program; that does not keep them from cheering for their favorite foreign player on the baseball field.  "In the entertainment world, people don't notice that," notes manager Mark Lee.

But these Dillas players do notice immigration problems facing fellow Latinos.  Not reforming the immigration law means there will be more problems, Lugo laments. But he's still hopeful legislators will reach a solution.  One that lets illegal immigrants live the lives they sneaked into this country to find.
