Amarillo Man Pleads Guilty To Cold Case

An Amarillo man has now received his punishment for a murder that happened 30 years ago.

In 1977,15 year old Phillip Alcala died from injuries he received during a fight at Amarillo's Southeast Park.

Police were not able to solve the case until Amarillo Police Department Sergeant Kevin Dockery reopened the case in December of 2006.

After an extensive investigation officers identified 55-year old Israel Hinojos as a possible offender.

Hinojos has now pleaded guilty to charges of involuntary manslaughter and has been sentenced to 10 years probation and will pay restitution to the family.
