Next time you go out and buy a cheese pizza, you could pay more. Cheese prices are rising in the area and all over the country.

The demand for ethanol has increased the cost of corn which is a staple for dairy cows. That means dairy farmers pay more for corn, which drives up the cost of milk, which drives up the cost of cheese.

NewsChannel 10 spoke with Brian Kelleher, owner of Basil Doc's Pizzeria in Amarillo.  He has noticed a big increase in cheese prices.

He says so far they have not raised pizza prices, but they could soon.

According to the Associated Press Pizza Hut and Papa John's have increased the price of their cheese pizzas only.
