Baptists in Texas now offer more than spiritual guidance to immigrants both legal and illegal. The denomination's general convention of Texas has announced plans to open service and aid centers for immigrants around the state.

We found out what churches immigrants in Amarillo turn to for legal help.  From English classes to lessons on becoming an American, we spoke with one church pastor who really goes the distance for his immigrant members.

Pastor Max Harmon of Centro Biblico Bautista, or Bible Baptist Venter, not only helps immigrant parishioners navigate legal limbo he even showed up in court in El Paso to plead with a judge when border patrol arrested one of his members.

"It took a while but we got to bring her back.  And she will have to leave and come back with visas and things but we're trying to encourage 'em to do it the right way. But at least she got to come back and be with her family for a while" said Harmon

Harmon says the woman is a mother to eleven children.  He says he worries most about kids like them who often must pay for their parents' decision to come to the U.S. illegally.  The church currently serves dozens of immigrant members.
