Appeal Filed Against Proposed Ethanol Plant

Several organizations are appealing the state's decision to grant an air quality permit for the construction of a proposed ethanol plant in Clovis.

A coalition called Concerned Citizens for Curry County objects to the location of the plant because it would subject the area to pollution hazards and would be too close to neighborhoods and schools that have a high low income and minority population.

The ethanol plant is expected to produce more than 100 million gallons of ethanol per year.
