An area man convicted of beating and stabbing an Amarillo man to death will face the death penalty.

39-year-old Larry Donell Davis had appealed his death sentence but a federal court delivered its decision to uphold the death sentence Wednesday.

Amarillo police say the murder happened at 1409 South Trigg back in 1995. Davis is one of five people who confessed to killing Michael Barrow for money and to earn a street gang tattoo.

An execution date has not been set for Davis at this time.
