And as NewsChannel 10's Blaire Arvin tells us it's a practice parents need to know about.

Basically it refers to teens who are type one diabetic.

They're going to great, risky lengths to lose weight... skipping their insulin.

This is extremely dangerous, it can lead to severe complications including kidney damage and even death.

One Amarillo doctor tells us it's a big problem in our area and all over the country...

He's dealt with local patients who've paid the price to slim down.
