Local vets can help give your dog a fighting chance against a rattle snake bite before the bite ever occurs.
One veterinarian tells NewsChannel 10 that the new vaccine can mean the difference between life and death for your pet. "It lessens the amount of tissue damage and swelling and reaction that they get to the snakebite," says Dr. Bill Horne.
He also notes rattlesnakes are a threat to your pet especially if you take your dog hiking or if you live in the country. He says that another good reason to give your dog the vaccine is rattlesnake antidotes are expensive and hard to come by. The vaccine costs about $25 for two injections that need to be administered about three weeks apart.
