New City Disaster Plan In Amarillo

Keeping the city of Amarillo running smoothly and safely after a disaster strikes. That's the goal of a new plan approved by the city commission Tuesday.

It's called Continuity of Operations Plan or COOP. Officials created the plan in case a disaster hits any city building that provides you with important services.

City officials say now they will be able to relocate if needed and continue to provide important services quickly.

A $120,000 grant will pay for city employees to be trained and go through exercises for the COOP plan.
