Lake and Pool Flotation Safety

If you are ever on a Texas lake, state law requires you wear a personal floatation device type I, II, or III.

Those numbers tell you it's a life saving device. So when you go to the store make sure you look at the tags because not all vests and suits are designed to save your life.

NewsChannel 10 also spoke with a local life guard who says when you are at the pool with your kids do not use blow up rings or floaties that go around a child's arm, those can be dangerous.

She says no matter what type of floating device you have, stay within arms reach of your kids.  She also recommends swimming lessons.
