There's a lot of online action going on at one rest stop in Donley County. Its become a hot stop for wireless internet.

And that's a good thing because as NewsChannel 10's Blaire Arvin tells us a little travel break can make a big difference in keeping us all safer on the roads.

Driving along Highway 287 in Donley County... This is catching a lot of people's eye.

"It's very nice." He's talking about the rest stop. "There's a steady stream of people."

Free wireless internet is attracting a lot of drivers, TxDOT installed it so people can take a break.

Tyler Hopper is a user. "I think it's a good idea," he says.

He's logging on his lap top and doing exactly what TxDOT wants...

"It's for the safety of the traveling public ... 15% of Texans are killed each year due to fatigue, 71,000 are injured ... having the wireless internet is just a plus and another good reason for them to pull over and stop," Barbara Seal.

Stop before making a long journey. For Hopper, that's Houston.

After a few minutes of web work... his break is over. He's heading back out on the road... ready and rested.
