Memorial Day -- Teaching the Next Generation

"We always try to come and clean all the graves," says Misti Lester "We always try to come and clean all the graves," says Misti Lester
"If we didn't have them we wouldn't be free," says Noah Wheeler "If we didn't have them we wouldn't be free," says Noah Wheeler

On this Memorial Day, even the young are showing an outpouring of patriotism.

NewsChannel 10's Blaire Arvin met one family... who has made it a tradition to make sure their children won't forget our fallen heroes.

Every year on Memorial Day the Lester's bring their kids out to local cemeteries... to honor... to teach... to remember.

As a sea of American flags blow in the wind...

People join at Memorial Park Cemetery to salute the fallen...

A few feet away...

Misti and James Lester and their four boys pay tribute... quietly in their own way.

"We always try to come and clean all the graves," says Misti.

And to say happy birthday to Misti's grandfather -- a World War II Veteran.

"I remember sitting in his lap and him telling us all about it," she says.

Now, she's telling her kids about it...

And you can bet it's a history lesson that resonates...

"If we didnt have them we wouldn't be free," says Noah.

A history lesson that quite possibly... could produce our next generation of heroes.

"It makes me proud and I wanna join the army someday," says Kaida.

"So I could help our country be free," says Noah.
