A suspect is in custody this afternoon after a botched bank robbery just steps from the Amarillo Police Department.
Just before 1pm this afternoon the suspect reportedly walked into the Amarillo National Bank at 410 South Taylor, and demanded an undisclosed amount of money from a clerk.
The suspect said he had a gun, but police say the clerk never saw the weapon.
Police soon found the suspect at the Tyler Street Resource Center, then questioned and arrested him.
His name has not been released.
Officials are currently executing a search warrant at the 3800 block of 6th Street.
