Early Tuesday morning a train car carrying sulfuric acid derailed near NW 1st & Madison in Amarillo. Officials say that the Union Pacific Train car tipped over on a turn and slid down an embankment. According to crews on scene the accident was due to the tracks being wider than normal on the turn. A small amount of sulfuric acid leaked from the train but not enough to endanger any in the surrounding area. There are no reported injuries from the derailment.
