FEMA Helps Out Storm Damaged Towns

Funds from FEMA are headed for people in Curry and Quay Counties hit hard by our recent tornadoes.

Governor Bill Richardson signed a federal-state agreement Friday that will release money to people impacted by the storms.

Checks could soon be arriving to voer the cost related to medical or dental costs and will also go toward clothing, cleanup materials, household items and possibly other housing assistance.

If you lost your job because of the tornadoes, then disaster unemployment help is no available.  The New Mexico State Department of Labor is accepting applications for people affected in Curry and Quay counties.

Before anyone can be deemed eligible officials must establish that you are not eligible for regular unemployment insurance benefits.  Claims must be filed by May 7, 2007 at the Disaster Recovery Center in Clovis.
