A week after the tornado swept through Clovis, the town continues to pick up the pieces. Today there was a meeting to update the cleanup effort.

Many people are at the Curry County Fairgrounds getting the help they need with food, shelter and supplies. It's the next step in a long recovery process. City officials met with Clovis residents today to talk about the cleanup effort.

So far 13 million pounds of debris has been picked up from the disaster area. But there is still a lot of work that needs to be done. The Mayor also gave an update on the recent visit from FEMA. He says the preliminary damage assessment has been finished and the declaration of federal disaster has been sent to the White House.

They are now waiting to hear back if any individual and or public assistance will be available. officials also want to emphasize those who were affected by the storm and need help can come to the Curry County Fairgrounds.

Caseworkers for the Salvation Army and the Red Cross will be here until next Friday April 6th.
