Disasters can happen all over the country and that is why the American Red Cross is constantly needing volunteers.
Today the organization signed people up to be disaster relief responders.
Tim Gunn, a volunteer for the organization, says: "They need people of all ages...middle school, high school, elderly...anyone who can answer a phone, turn on a computer, send out mail. They need help with everything."
Once trained, volunteers could get sent to a crisis anywhere in the country.
Susan Ginn, Development Coordinator for the American Red Cross, says: "People are wonderful to respond when there is a disaster; that's when they think of the Red Cross."
