Panhandle Leaders Lobby Austin

Wind energy is a hot topic for local leaders lobbying legislators in Austin this afternoon.

It's one of many issues the Amarillo Chamber of Commerce is pushing during 'Panhandle and South Plains Days'.

They are hoping wind zones will be set throughout the panhandle, and transmission lines will be built to transport power to larger cities like Dallas and Houston.

It would be an economic boost for the area.

Chamber Representative John Teague says; "You build the farms, lots of construction, farmers get to lease land, so it's win win for everyone in the panhandle and south plains."

Chamber leaders teamed up with civic leaders from Lubbock hoping strength in numbers would benefit all of west Texas.
