NewsChannel 10 is told by the Department of Public Safety that one of their officers was trying to stop a car driving at high speed around 11:45 Saturday night.
That's when a chase began. Troopers chased after the car that had a driver and two passengers in it for about ten miles.
After eight minutes of chasing the car, they entered Castro County and the suspects tried to flee onto county roads. They finally lost control of the vehicle and became stuck. That's when we're told they tried to move towards the trooper.
The trooper then shot into the vehicle, hitting the passenger twice in the right arm and shoulder. The driver of the car was also hit. Neither experienced life-threatening injuries. The suspects were taken into custody in Dimmitt.
DPS say the driver had a misdemeanor warrant on him and they suspect drugs or alcohol may be involved.
