House Panel Votes to Override Executive Order

A House panel voted today to approve a bill to overturn Governor Perry's executive order requiring Texas schoolgirls to recieve the HPV vaccine.

The Texas House public health comitee voted 6-3 infavor of a bill that would bar state officials from requiring the vaccine for school attendance.

Ninety-one state representatives voted in favor of the bill which will no go to the  full House.

Also today the manufacturer of the vaccine, pharmaceutical giant, Merck announced its plan to  abandon its lobbying push to require school girls to get the vaccine.
