Exclusive Eyewitness Account of City's Latest Murder

A brutal fight in Amarillo leaves a man dead. 
Tonight, police are probing the city's first murder of the year. 

It happened in the 3300 block of South West 8th street Saturday night just after 10:30. 
NewsChannel 10's Felicia Lafuente is tracking the crime and brings us an exclusive interview with an eyewitness.

Amarillo police are being tight-lipped about the investigation right now, so we came straight here to the murder scene and spoke with the man who lives in this house who witnessed the tragic event.


   What he saw--he revealed to NewsChannel 10.
  "When I looked out from my porch there were two guys attacking another and there was some aggressive conversation going on, the guy being attacked was begging for his life. I went inside and got my cell phone and called 9-1-1 and told what I had witnessed and that they needed to get some help.Because I was not involved in the incident, I was just trying to help the man who was being murdered," says Rick, an eyewitness.


   Amarillo police arrived to the 3300 block of South West 8th Street just after 10:30 on Saturday night. 
   They found a 39-year-old white man stabbed several times in his upper body.
   Looking closely, you can still some blood on the grass. 
   Since the next of kin has not been notified, we cannot release the name of the victim.
   However, a suspect who is described as a 19-year-old white man turned himself in this morning and is now in the potter county jail charged with murder.
   His name has not been released.


   Rick also did not know who the victim and suspect were, but was able to hear some of the argument.
  "I just heard the guy on the ground for sure, the other conversation I couldn't say for sure what it was, but the guy on the ground was definelty telling him please don't kill me, please don't kill me," says Rick.
  An autopsy will be performed on the victim in Lubbock on Tuesday.
