Clovis Murderer Seeks New Trial

The attorney of a man convicted of first degree murder in Clovis wants a new trial for his client.

Attorney James Klipstine, Jr. filed a motion in state district court on behalf of 31 Year Old Robert Macias.

The motion says Police violated Macias' rights when they recorded his phone conversations from jail without his knowledge.

District Attorney Matt Chandler plans to file a response opposing the motion.

A jury convicted Macias in late January for the death of 19 Year Old Wilfred Salas, Jr.

    Drivers in downtown Amarillo could soon be dealing with fewer one-way streets. It all has to do with the parking garages going up on Buchanan Street. Cars will need to exit right and left on 7th and 8th Avenues, and right now it's against city ordinance to turn left out of any parking garage in the city.
