Oklahoma Senator Files Bill to Increase Scholarships

An Oklahoma state senator wants to expand a college scholarship program for Oklahoma students.

The Oklahoma higher learning access program currently provides scholarships for students who make good grades in college prep classes, stay out of trouble and whose families earn less than 50-thousand dollars a year.

Senator Sean Burrage has introduced Senate Bill 530 to raise the family income limit to 75-thousand dollars.

He says increasing the income cap would make nearly 75% of all high school students in the state eligible for the scholarship program.
