It's Official! The Flu Hits Amarillo

Cover your cough...

Wash your hands...

The flu season has officially arrived in Amarillo.

And a lot of people are already feeling blue...

There's been a dramatic jump in cases this week alone...

Compare that to the end of 2006 when we only had a few.

From schools... to hospitals... and private physicians...

A lot of people are now feeling the flu.

"It's really beginning in our community so its time to take precautions with how to protect yourself protect your family from the flu that includes vaccination and when you are ill don't go to places large groups of people where you can infect them," says Matt Richardson, Director of Public Health.

And health officials tell us, that includes work and school...

If you're feeling sick... head to the doctor, instead of putting others at risk of becoming infected.

Now, Amarillo's flu season arrived later than much of the rest of the country's...

But it's still on par with last year's.

In case you're wondering about vaccinations...

We're told there are plenty to go around.

And you can find out where to get a shot by calling this number... 351-7001.
