Childress Airport Updates

Construction at the Childress Municipal Airport will make it safer for planes to land.

The city received a federal grant handled by the Texas Department of Transportation.

They will use 800 thousand dollars to put in runway lights to help pilots judge their height when coming in for a landing.

They will also replace their beacon, re-stripe the runway, and upgrade the taxiway.

We spoke with the city manager today, he expects construction to begin in early summer, and finish a couple of months later.
