The Don & Sybil Harrington Cancer Center is pleased to welcome a new physician. Dr. Sean Tedjarati will join William Robinson, III, MD in the practice of Gynecologic Oncology.
Sean S. Tedjarati, MD, FRCS(C), FACOG received his medical degree from Spartan Health Sciences University in 1993. After separate residencies in Family Medicine, serving as chief resident his final year, and Obstetrics and Gynecology at The Ohio State University, Dr. Tedjarati completed his fellowship in Gynecologic Oncology at The University of Texas at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center and Research Institute. He served as an Assistant Professor/International Cancer Liaison at the University of South Florida, H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center and Research Institute in the Division of Gynecologic Oncology and served as its Interim Division Chief for a period of time.
Dr. Tedjarati worked with internationally recognized cancer researcher, Dr. Isaiah Fidler, in developing drugs to block the new formation of vessels in ovarian cancer (Angiogenesis). He also lead a new clinical trial at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, and during the Felix Rutledge Honor Society 35th Annual Scientific Conference, was awarded first prize for his clinical research. Dr. Tedjarati is a member of the Felix Rutledge Society, the American Society of Clinical Oncologist, the International Gynecologic Cancer Society and Society of Gynecologic Oncologist.
He has lectured extensively around the country, is published in peer-reviewed journals and has received multiple awards. Additionally, Dr. Tedjarati volunteered in establishing cancer care for women in developing countries such as China, The Philippines and Costa Rica. He has a strong interest in international and public health and is a candidate for a Masters of Public Health through The Johns Hopkins University, Bloomberg School of Public Health. He is a fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and is board certified in both Obstetrics and Gynecology and Gynecologic Oncology.
Dr. Tedjarati will begin seeing patients at the Harrington Cancer Center on Monday, September 25, 2006. The Harrington Cancer Center gynecological oncology program will now see patients Monday to Friday with consultative services available on a 24 hour basis. In addition to position with Harrington Cancer Center, Dr. Tedjarati will also join Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology as an Associate Professor.
