Bill Would Punish Companies that Dodge U.S. Standards

An Oklahoma state lawmaker is filing a bill that she says addresses the root cause of illegal immigration.

Representative Rebecca Hamiltion's bill would withhold state contracts with companies that operate in Mexico or other countries that don't meet the workplace and minimum wage standards of the U.S.

Companies would not quality for Oklahoma state contracts if they don't pay the workers at least the U.S. minimum wage.

It would also require companies that have state contracts to maintain all labor standards comparabe to U.S. law.
