Texas Governor Rick Perry and fellow Republican Lieutenant Governor David Dewhurst took their oaths of office today in Austin.
In his inaugural address, Perry touched on the immigration issue and said, "We are both a nation of laws and immigrants; the former protect us, the latter enrich us."
With governors of several Mexican states attending his swearing-in ceremony, Perry said he supports a guest worker program and "strategic fencing."
Perry's name has surfaced as a possible vice presidential nominee in 2008.
Because of wintry weather in Austin...the two took the oath of office inside the capital building...
Instead of outside as originally planned.
