Texas Department of Transportation crews are again working overtime to remove snow and ice in seventeen counties across the panhandle.
For the past 24 hours Tx-DOT crews have been spreading de-icing materials with a fleet of over 100 vehicles.
Trucks are spreading salt, sand and liquid magnesium chloride on the roads to prevent rain and snow from freezing once it hits the ground.
Several vehicles in the fleet also mix the magnesium chloride with a substance called bottom ash, a by-product of coal that helps keep the liquid in place.
This active winter storm season has helped to keep all of TX-DOT's vehicles busy.
